Specialty insurer Brit opens Singapore office on Lloyd's platform

U.K.-based specialty insurer Brit Ltd. has opened an office in Singapore via the Lloyd's of London's Singapore platform, reported Asia Insurance Review.

Brit has received approval to begin underwriting from both Lloyd's and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and will start operations on March 1. The Singapore office will be headed by Charlie Barrett. "Local markets such as Singapore are becoming increasingly important as we see both capacity and insurance penetration continue to grow," said a Brit official.
