Climate-related disasters dominate natural disaster trends

The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction said 2015 has said that weather and climate-related disasters now dominate natural disaster trends, reports Ecns.cn citing Xinhua.

Robert Glasser, the U.N. secretary-general's special representative, said that disasters affected almost 100 million people in 2015 and "climate, aided by a strong El Nino, was a factor in more than 90% of those events." The top five most disaster-hit countries last year were China, the United States, India, the Philippines and Indonesia.
