The National Association of Insurance Commissioners said on Monday that its members have elected Madison, Wisconsin-based Ted Nickel to fill the vacant president-elect position.

Mr. Nickel will succeed Sharon P. Clark who resigned as Kentucky Insurance Commissioner in January. He is the commissioner of insurance for Wisconsin, NAIC said in a statement.

Tennessee insurance commissioner Nashville-based Julie Mix McPeak was elected NAIC vice president. Maine insurance superintendent Augusta-based Eric A. Cioppa was elected secretary treasurer, according to the statement.

“We are fortunate to have so many members who are willing to step up and serve our dynamic state regulatory system,” Missouri Insurance Director and NAIC President John M. Huff said in the statement. “One of the greatest strengths of our association is our ability to quickly adapt to challenges and changes. I'm pleased to welcome a new member to the leadership team and am grateful for the commitment demonstrated by colleagues to fill these important roles.”
