Hackers try to access over 20 million accounts on e-commerce website

A recent state media report has revealed that hackers tried to access more than 20 million active accounts on China's internet services provider Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.'s Taobao e-commerce website, reported The Guardian.

The hackers used Alibaba's own cloud computing platform to gain access to 20.6 million accounts. The report said that Alibaba's systems discovered and blocked most of the log-in attempts. An Alibaba spokesman said the company detected the attack in "the first instance", and reminded users to change their passwords.
