Over 1,000 flights cancelled as cold spell hits Asia

A cold snap in East Asia has claimed dozens of lives and resulted in the cancellation of over 1,000 flights, reported BBC News.

Around 60,000 tourists have been stranded in South Korea as more than 500 domestic and international flights have been cancelled in Jeju Island.

NHK news reported that over 600 domestic flights have been cancelled in Japan as snow storms have hit large parts of the country.

Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong and southern China have also been hit by the cold spell.
