Recent pipeline attacks cost $2.4 million a day

Recent attacks on Nigeria's pipelines have cost the country about 470 million Nigerian nairas ($2.4 million) daily in lost gas and electricity, reported Reuters.

The attacks on the Escravos Lagos Pipeline System have led to a loss of 160 million standard cubic feet per day of gas. The Ministry of Power, Works and Housing said that the attacks affected gas sales and as a result hit gas-fired power stations. Nigeria's state oil firm said that it had closed two of its four refineries due to crude supply problems following the attacks.
