"Impossible" for insurance, reinsurance sector to achieve 10% ROE in 2016: Stephen Catlin

Stephen Catlin, Executive Deputy Chairman of Dublin-based insurer XL Catlin, has said that achieving a 10% or higher return on equity in the insurance and reinsurance sector in 2016 is likely "impossible" given the ongoing pressure in the industry, Artemis.bm reported.

Both underwriting and investment returns continue to remain depressed currently, Mr. Catlin said.

Mr. Catlin expects the property/casualty insurance industry to experience difficulty in 2016.
