About 2.5 million birds depopulated due to bird flu in Nigeria

Data from the Department of Veterinary and Disease Control of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Nigeria revealed an estimated 2.5 million birds have been depopulated so far due to bird flu, Daily Trust reports.

The latest Nigerian states affected by bird flu include Ebonyi, Adamawa Bayelsa and Katsina, bringing the total number of states affected to 24.

Onallo Akpa, Director-General of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, said that 556 positive cases of bird flu have been recorded in the country.
