Volkswagen faces its biggest European class action lawsuit over emissions scandal

German automaker Volkswagen A.G. is likely to face its biggest lawsuit to date in Europe over its emission test cheating scandal, reports Deutsche Welle citing news agencies.

Julius Reiter, a representative for the German law firm Baum, Reiter und Kollegen, said that hundreds of affected Volkswagen owners on the continent are joining a class action lawsuit against the automaker every week. The lawsuit already includes more than 60,000 customers, said Mr. Reiter. Volkswagen is likely to face some €10 million ($10.8 million) in punitive damages, added Mr. Reiter.
