Claims from flood-hit farms expected to top $59 million: Insurer

U.K.-based The National Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Society Ltd. expects insurance claims from flood-hit farms in the nation to surpass £40 million ($59 million), reports Farmers Weekly.

Around two-thirds of the claims will be related to rural businesses and farms. "Based on what we are hearing from our network of offices across the U.K., the flooding in many parts of Scotland, northern England and north-west Wales could be the worst for several years," a NFU Mutual official said.
