Two million sets of personal data stolen, leaked in Japan 2015 cyber attacks
Posted On: Jan. 5, 2016 12:00 AM CSTAt least two million sets of personal data are feared leaked or stolen from 140 Japanese companies and organizations that experienced cyber attacks in 2015, reports Zee News citing The Japan Times.
The victims included 22 universities, 49 government agencies and 69 private companies.
The Japan Pension Service experienced the largest data theft of 1.25 million sets of names, addresses, birthdates and ID numbers.
Japan-based printing firm Seki Co. Ltd. said that up to 267,000 data sets could have been stolen from the websites of 17 companies.
