RIMS names 2016 president

Julie Pemberton has been named the new president of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.

The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. announced Monday its new president for the 2016 term will be Julie Pemberton, Outerwall Inc.'s director of enterprise risk and insurance management, effective Jan. 1.

Based in Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois, Ms. Pemberton, a member of RIMS Chicago Chapter, has served on the society's board of directors for six years and has been a member of RIMS for over 16 years.

Prior to that, she served as vice president of RIMS and board liaison to its external affairs committee, the RIMS news release said.

“Every invention. Every startup. Every process, guideline, protocol and standard starts with an idea,” Ms. Pemberton said in the statement. “Risk professionals' responsibilities continue to evolve and are growing within their organizations. In addition to mitigating the impact of a risk, practitioners are initiating ideas and developing solutions to not only prevent unwanted risks but to embrace and enable risk taking that optimizes business growth.

“As RIMS 62nd President, I look forward to helping this Society focus on the future, ensuring that we continue to advance and convert ideas into valuable resources that support the world's risk management community.”
