Planes at risk of being hit by drones, expert warns

Colin Smith, counter-terrorism expert at the United Kingdom's Home Office, has said that commercial planes in the country are at risk of being hit by drones that fly too close to them, reports RT.com citing the Sunday Times.

Terrorists may use drones to down planes, said Mr. Smith. Civilian drones have been seen dangerously close to planes at heights of up to 5,000ft near U.K. airports. "This is happening on a weekly basis," added Mr. Smith.
