Award-winning risk manager to retire

Eamonn Cunningham plans to step down from Scentre Group in March 2016./ ARAN ANDERSON

Eamonn Cunningham, chief risk officer at Scentre Group in Sydney and a member of the Business Insurance 2014 Risk Management Honor Roll^®, will retire on March 31.

Mr. Cunningham has been with global real estate development and management firm Scentre and its predecessor company, Westfield Group, for 30 years.

Born in Galway, Ireland, Mr. Cunningham worked in accountancy before joining Westfield in 1986 in internal audit. About 18 months later he took on responsibility for the group's insurance purchasing and over the following decades transformed its risk management strategy.

In 2013 he became the founding president of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.'s Australasia chapter.

On retirement, Mr. Cunningham plans to complete an Australian Institute of Company Directors course.
