Insurance claims from South Australia bushfires total $88 million

Insurance claims from bushfires in Australia's South Australia state have reached $120 million Australian ($88 million), reports Sky News citing the Australian Associated Press.

The Insurance Council of Australia said that commercial losses account for about two-thirds of this amount. Over 1,340 claims have been registered following the fires. The fires burned through 82,000 hectares in the state and damaged nearly 500 buildings.
