Former XL Group executive appointed CFO of London underwriter

Pioneer Underwriters, the underwriting group within Minova Insurance Holdings Ltd., has named David Foster as its first group chief financial officer.

Mr. Foster will also join the board of Pioneer Underwriting Holdings Ltd. and relevant subsidiary boards. The appointment is effective March 2016, London-based Pioneer said Wednesday in a statement.

Previously, Mr. Foster was deputy corporate controller at XL Group P.L.C. Before that he was CFO of Catlin Group Ltd.’s Bermuda operation and Catlin Group financial controller, according to the statement.

“Pioneer’s success over the last five years means we are now of the scale and breadth to require a CFO with the skill and experience of David Foster. I’m very much looking forward to welcoming David to Pioneer and working with him as we continue to develop the business in line with our long term strategy.” Darren Doherty, CEO of Pioneer Underwriters, said in the statement.

Mr. Foster will be based in London.
