South Korea fines Volkswagen $12 million and orders recall of 125,522 cars

South Korea has ordered Volkswagen A.G. to recall 125,522 cars after it found that the automaker intentionally manipulated a diesel emissions device in vehicles with an older engine, reported Reuters.

South Korea's environment ministry said that it has also imposed a fine of 14.1 billion South Korean won ($12.3 million) on the automaker's South Korean unit Volkswagen Korea. The ministry said that the recall covers Euro 5 engine vehicles with 2,000cc and 1,600cc diesel "EA189" engines, particularly sold in South Korea between 2008 and 2015.
