Indian insurers likely to face claims of $75.6 million from recent floods

India's general insurance sector is expected to receive claims worth about 5 billion Indian rupees ($75.6 million) from the recent floods in the country's Tamil Nadu state, reported The Hindu BusinessLine.

United India Insurance Co. Ltd. received the highest number of claims totaling INR 1.3 billion ($19.6 million), mainly for automobiles and from small-scale units.

A New India Assurance Co. Ltd. official said that the insurer has received claims totaling INR 350 million ($5.2 million).
