JLT Specialty USA launches marine practice

JLT Specialty USA, a U.S. subsidiary of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group P.L.C., on Thursday said it has launched a marine specialty practice.

Based in New York, the marine team will build and grow the marine specialty capabilities, manage and service existing clients, JLT Specialty USA said in a statement.

The team will include John G. Betz, who will serve as senior vice president; Christopher J. Maro, who will serve as vice president; and Kenneth M. Fichtelman, who will serve as assistant vice president.

Previously, Mr. Betz was an area president for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., leading the blue and brown water marine practice; Mr. Maro was a partner with Howden Marine Group; and Mr. Fichtelman was an associate partner with Howden Marine Group, according to the statement.

“This team comes to JLT Specialty USA with impressive careers and backgrounds in the marine space,” Jim Pierce, chairman of JLT Specialty USA, said in the statement. “We look forward to utilizing their many talents to deliver innovative approaches and exemplary service to our clients.”
