Cybercrime huge threat to Africa: Security experts

Security experts have warned that cybercrime is a huge threat to Africa as governments and businesses in the continent increase their online presence, reports BBC News.

A recent report said that cybercrime costs Kenyan businesses around $146 million each year.

The report also said that most African businesses are not able to withstand cyber attacks.

South Africa's Sunday Times newspaper said that hackers launched 6,000 cyber attacks against the country's businesses, infrastructure and internet service providers in October. South Africa is one of the world's cybercrime hotspots, said a research firm.
