Top 3 Japanese nonlife insurers' net profit down about 25% April-September

Japan's top three nonlife insurers' aggregate group net profit decreased during the April-September period due to heavy typhoon activity in the summer, reported Nikkei Asian Review.

Net profit at the country's MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings Inc., Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Holdings Inc. and Tokio Marine Holdings Inc. decreased about 25% to approximately 200 billion Japanese yen ($1.62 billion) during the period.

The insurers' claim payments increased to around JPY 180 billion ($1.46 billion).
