Haze likely to cause surge in insurance claims

Indonesia's Financial Services Authority has said that the haze from forest fires in the country is likely to cause a surge in insurance claims, reported Asia Insurance Review citing Bisnis Indonesia.

Firdaus Djaelani, an official at the authority, said that the insurance sector would be hit by a number of claims from businesses that have been forced to cease or slow operations due to the haze. Indonesia's General Insurance Association said that there has been no claims surge so far despite cancellations of thousands of insured flights.
