BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

San Francisco health care spending requirement is adjusted for managers

Managerial, supervisory or confidential employees who earn at least $92,990 in 2016 will be exempt from a San Francisco law that requires employers to spend a certain amount of money on their employees' health insurance.

The increase from this year's exemption limit of $90,745 for managers is tied to the rise in the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose metropolitan statistical area, the City and County of San Francisco Office of Labor Standards Enforcement, which administers the law, said last week.

The San Francisco law requires employers with 100 or more employees to spend $2.48 per hour per covered employee on health care in 2015 while the spending requirement will rise to $2.53 per hour in 2016. Employers with 20-99 employees must spend at least $1.65 per hour per covered employee this year and $1.68 hour next year.

The spending requirement applies to employees who work at least eight hours per week and who have been employed for more than 90 days.
