Haze hits crude oil production, maintenance work at oil fields

Indonesia's crude oil production is being hampered due to forest fires in the country, reports Bloomberg.

The haze from the fires prompted BP P.L.C. to shut down a gas plant in October. Elan Biantoro, a spokesman for Indonesian oil and gas regulator SKK Migas, said crude oil output has fallen below 800,000 barrels per day. Mr. Biantoro said that that poor air quality has made it difficult for workers to work properly at the oil fields that need more frequent maintenance due to the haze.
