Berkshire Hathaway snags marine specialists in Australia

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Co. said Tuesday that it has expanded its marine insurance capabilities in Australia and New Zealand with two new appointments.

Barton Phillips will serve as head of transport and logistics, and Laetitia Roney will be manager of transport and logistics liability insurance. Both will be based in Berkshire Hathaway's new office in Brisbane, Australia.

Mr. Phillips and Ms. Roney join Berkshire Hathaway from Zurich Financial Services Australia Ltd., where Mr. Phillips was national manager of marine and transport liability insurance and Ms. Roney was underwriting manager of marine and transport liability insurance.

“With the appointment of these two exceptionally experienced marine insurance professionals, we further deepen our underwriting expertise and expand our geographic footprint in Australia and New Zealand,” Dimitry Zilberud, head of marine at BHSI Australia, said in the statement.
