Volkswagen marine unit sued for rigging performance tests on ship enginesPosted On: Oct. 22, 2015 12:00 AM CST
Norway-based ship owner I.M. Skaugen SE has said that it is demanding compensation worth $50 million from MAN Diesel and Turbo SE, a marine unit of Volkswagen A.G., with respect to rigging performance tests of ship engines manufactured more than a decade ago, Reuters reported.
The Norwegian company alleged that the specifications of the six engines it purchased from MAN in 2002-03 were misleading. It is seeking compensation for higher fuel use than stated over the expected 30-year lifetimes of the engines.
