Storms in southern Brazil

Officials said that storms in Brazil's southern region over the past days have affected 15,600 people, reports Xinhua.

Floods or mudslides have hit 38 towns in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and over 2,300 people have been evacuated, state civil defense services said.

About 2,700 homes have been damaged.

Floods have hit 20 towns in the country's Santa Catarina state.

Meteorology services have forecast that the storms will continue in the coming days.
