Shipping at increased risk of collateral damage

IHS Economics & Country Risk Inc. has said that there is now an increased risk of collateral damage to ships using the ports of Sidra and Ras Lanuf in Libya, IHS Maritime 360 reported.

Richard Cochrane, a senior IHS analyst, said that ships are at risk due to fighting between rival militias using "inaccurate Grad-type rockets and mortar fire" following the recent Islamic State attack on Sidra oil port. All shipping approaching the Sirte seaport "faces a severe risk of coming under attack by Libyan National Army airpower," said Mr. Cochrane.
