Losses from typhoon Mujigae total $3.6 billion in China's Guangdong Province

The civil affairs department of China's Guangdong Province said that the recent typhoon Mujigae has caused direct economic loss of 23.24 billion Chinese yuan ($3.65 billion) in the province, Xinhua reported.

The department said that the typhoon damaged at least 3,374 homes and 282,700 hectares of cropland in the province. Mujigae has affected 3.5 million people in Guangdong and 1.9 million people in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The typhoon also caused widespread power outages in Hainan province, Guangdong and Guangxi.
