Heavy rains and floods hit France, damage pegged at about $560 million

Heavy downpours and floods have caused more than €500 million ($560.7 million) in damage in southern France, reported Gazzetta del Sud Online citing the Alpes-Maritimes department.

French President Francois Hollande has declared a state of natural disaster in the French Riviera. The Brague river overflowed its banks and spilled into the streets of Cannes city. The floods and rains have almost entirely destroyed the Marineland aquatic park in Antibes town.
