Five Russian banks hit by DDoS cyber attacks: Official

Artyom Sychev, an official at Russia's central bank, said that five banks have been hit by a Distributed Denial of Service attack with the attackers demanding a ransom paid in bitcoin, reported CoinTelegraph.

Businesses and banks in the country are facing an increasing threat of cyber attacks and July hackers managed to steal information of over 300,000 Bank Saint Petersburg clients and then attempted to sell it for US$500,000 in bitcoin
