Spring European windstorm damage estimate lowered to $925 million

Windstorm Mike-Niklas caused about €826 million ($925.0 million) in insured property losses, catastrophe insurance data firm Perils A.G. said Tuesday.

The storm struck Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom from March 29 through April 1 and caused widespread damage in Germany, in particular.

Perils said in a statement that it had revised its loss estimate downward from a previous estimate of about €895 million ($999.45 million).

A fourth loss estimate will be published on March 29, 2016.
