Volkswagen loses $10 billion in brand value over scandal

U.K.-based research firm Brand Finance P.L.C. said that Germany's Volkswagen A.G. has lost nearly $10 billion in brand value due to the automaker's recent emissions test scandal, reported Nikkei Asian Review.

Brand Finance estimated the automaker's brand value prior to the scandal at $31 billion, making it the world's third most valuable automobile brand after Toyota Motor Corp. and BMW A.G.

The time that Volkswagen will need to rebuild its reputation is unclear as the scope of the scandal spreads globally, the researchers said.
