A.M. Best places insurer Amlin under review following takeover offer by Japanese insurer

A.M. Best Co. Inc. has placed U.K.-based insurer Amlin P.L.C. under review following the insurer's agreement to be acquired by Japan's Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co. Ltd., The Royal Gazette reported.

A.M. Best has placed Amlin's issuer credit rating of "A-" under review with developing implications. The rating agency said that it is evaluating Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance's plans for Amlin and its subsidiaries.
