Heavy rains cause flooding, serious travel disruptions

Heavy downpours have hit central Japan, resulting in floods, landslides and serious travel disruption, The Japan Times reports.

The storm was partially caused by Typhoon Etau that recently crossed central Japan. A hotel in a popular resort area in the country has collapsed. Municipalities have issued evacuation orders to about 90,000 people in the country's Tochigi Prefecture. No buses and trains have been operating in the Kinugawa region.
