BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

AIG, Axis provided Ashley Madison insurance: Report

AIG, Axis provided Ashley Madison insurance: Report

American International Group Inc. and Axis Capital Holdings Ltd. have provided insurance coverage for the Ashley Madison website, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

The news service, citing unidentified sources, said AIG provided directors and officers coverage to the website for extramarital affairs whose users were revealed in a cyber attack and data breach.

Bermuda-based Axis, meanwhile, provided cyber attack coverage for the website for cheaters, sources told Bloomberg.

Neither AIG nor Axis responded to requests for confirmation of the report.

Since hackers broke into the site and released the data of millions of the site's members, victims have sued seeking more than $500 million from Toronto-based Avid Life Media Inc., owner of the website.

“Numerous class-action litigation cases that have been filed in the Ashley Madison and similar situations demonstrate the need for an analysis of existing insurance coverage,” Kevin Kalinich, leader of the cyber risk team at Aon P.L.C., told Bloomberg.

He said some companies have been trying to introduce policy exclusions to limit such risks.
