Tupelo, Mississippi-based BancorpSouth Insurance Services Inc. on Wednesday said its construction practice has entered a partnership with New Orleans-based Crescent Agency to provide risk management services for those looking to build or rebuild in New Orleans.

The joint venture with BancorpSouth Insurance Services’ Construction Practice and Crescent Agency aims to provide property/casualty, bonding and risk management support for construction contractors, the companies said in a statement.

“As we continue to move away from the shadow of Hurricane Katrina, it is important that contractors know they have the opportunity to team with someone who is extremely familiar with and knowledgeable about their needs,” said Crescent Agency owner and President Warren Perkins in the statement. “In the 10 years since the storm and during the 18 years prior to it, I navigated through the particulars of our city and the construction industry. The Crescent Agency’s partnership with BXSI will give contractors in New Orleans even more expertise to draw upon.”

Mr. Perkins recently retired as vice president and director of Risk Management for Boh Bros., after 30 years.

“The strategic alliance will provide resources to contractors in New Orleans that otherwise are unavailable,” said Trent Sandahl, construction practice leader for BancorpSouth Insurance, also known as BXSI. The construction practice, “features several individuals that specialize in providing insurance options for general and industrial construction firms.”
