Increased risk of blackouts in U.K.

Unions said that delay in the start of U.K.'s Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant has increased the risk of blackouts in the country, reported Mirror.co.uk.

Hinkley Point C, which is U.K.'s first nuclear power plant in decades, was due to be ready in 2017.

Electricite de France S.A., the firm behind the development of the plant, has now said that the plant may not be ready by 2023.

"Business and domestic consumers face the very real prospect of power cuts and the lights going out," said an official.
