Bermuda insurer and reinsurer names chief risk officer

Argo Group International Holdings Ltd., has named Alex Hindson as chief risk officer, effective immediately, the Hamilton, Bermuda-based specialty insurer and reinsurer said Tuesday.

He replaces Karen Meriwether, about whom no further information was available, an Argo spokesman said in an email.

Mr. Hindson, who is based in Bermuda, previously served as chief risk officer for Amlin A.G.'s Bermuda and Zurich operations, Argo said in a statement.

He is also a fellow at the Institute of Risk Management, where he served as chair in 2010-2011, according to the statement.

“Alex's strategic leadership and extensive experience in successfully managing risk-related challenges and opportunities for global insurance providers will serve us well as we continue to grow in today's complex environment,” said Jay Bullock, Argo chief financial officer, in the statement.
