Heavy rains and hail hit Sydney

Australia's Sydney city has been hit by heavy rains and hail, reported The Sydney Morning Herald.

A low pressure center has developed off the country's northern Illawarra coast, said Australia's Bureau of Meteorology, adding that the Illawarra and South Coast region would be hit by the wet and windy weather.

"This pattern is generating vigorous onshore winds along the southern half of the coast, and bringing periods of heavy rainfall to the region," said the bureau.

The storm prompted suspension of train services on the South Coast Line between Coalcliff and Thirroul.
