Papua New Guinea faces worst drought in 20 years

Papua New Guinea has been hit by the worst drought in nearly 20 years, reported Xinhua.

Peter O'Neill, the country's Prime Minister, is rolling out drought relief measures for the nation's worst hit areas.

"Currently, 1,842,000 people have been affected by this extreme weather, of which 1,303,000 are classified as being in the most at risk, Category 4, drought," said Mr. O'Neill.

Frost has damaged crops in the country's Morobe Providence, Central Province and high altitude areas of the highland provinces.
