Typhoon prompts cancellation of flights in Shanghai

Typhoon Goni has hit China's Shanghai city and affected several flights in the city's airports leaving thousands of passengers stranded, The Straits Times reports.

The combined effect of the typhoon and a cold front has caused the heavy rains, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.

Officials said that about 57 flights have been delayed at the city's Hongqiao International Airport and 102 flights at Pudong International Airport.

More than 140 flights have been cancelled at both airports.
