Chubb exec joins rival insurer

Julie Stephenson, senior vice president and global liability manager for Chubb Corp., will join rival insurer CNA Financial Corp. as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for CNA Commer

Longtime Chubb executive Julie Stephenson will join rival insurer CNA Financial Corp. as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for CNA Commercial.

Ms. Stephenson is Chicago-based and the appointment is effective Sept. 1, CNA said in a Monday statement.

As chief underwriting officer for CNA's commercial unit, Ms. Stephenson will be responsible for underwriting oversight and governance for all products and lines of business written within commercial, according to the statement.

Previously, Ms. Stephenson was senior vice president and global liability manager for Chubb Corp. She succeeds John Beckman, who will serve in the role of senior vice president and chief transformation officer for CNA Commercial, according to the statement.

“John and Julie will work closely together to assess major risk exposures in Commercial, identify new growth opportunities and products, and recommend risk management and remediation strategies,” Kevin Leidwinger, president and chief operating officer, CNA Commercial said in the statement.
