Floods in China cause $18 bn economic losses

China's Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief headquarters has said that floods have caused direct economic losses of 117.6 billion Chinese yuan ($18.38 billion) in the country in 2015 so far, Xinhua reported.

Data from the headquarters showed that floods and waterlogging have affected around 59.32 million people in 29 provincial regions of the country.

Floods have also claimed 232 lives and left 55 people missing, it said.
