Steel mill to lose $147 million after utility cuts off gas

An official has said that gas cut to Pakistan Steel Mills Corp. Pvt. Ltd. will cost the firm 10 to 15 billion Pakistani rupees ($98.1 to $147.1 million) in damages, The News International reported.

The country's Sui Southern Gas Co. Ltd. has cut gas supply to the company for non-payment of dues. "Complete gas halt would shut two blast furnaces and two coke oven batteries at the PSM forever, as such plants cannot be temporarily switched off for any reason at any point of time," added the official.
