El Nino causing 'worst flooding, landslides in 30 years'

The southern cone of South America has been affected by the El Nino weather pattern and has caused flooding and landslides in the region, Bloomberg reported.

Heavy rains and floods have cut off roads, damaged crops and halted copper mining in the region. "This El Nino is going to be one of the worst we've seen in the past 30 years," said an official. Nearly 30 towns have been flooded in Buenos Aires province of Argentina. Heavy downpours have affected copper mining operations in Chile and caused power cuts in several regions.
