Several construction projects without insurance in Myanmar

Officials have said that construction firms in Myanmar have been starting projects without appropriate insurance cover, reported The Myanmar Times.

An official said that most construction firms use only fire insurance or don't take an insurance cover despite the fact that there are several types of insurance that are applicable. Several firms are not even aware that they can insure their construction projects, said Asia Construction Co.'s general manager U Yan Aung. State-owned Myanma Insurance is the only insurer that can provide construction and engineering insurance in the country.
