June floods cost insurers nearly $30 million

New Zealand's Insurance Council said that floods that hit the country's lower North Island and the west coast of the South Island in June has cost insurers $44 million New Zealand ($29 million), reports Voxy.co.nz.

Damage from weather-related events in 2015 is now close to NZD 100 million, the council said. Floods in the lower North Island have cost insurers over NZD 23 million, including NZD 11 million from almost 600 commercial and business interruption claims.
