Natural catastrophes cause $35 billion in damage in first half

Natural catastrophes across the globe in the first half of the year have caused $35 billion in total losses, of which $12 billion was inured, according to Munich Reinsurance Co., as reported by Gulf News.

The massive earthquake in Nepal was among the main natural catastrophes in the period and Munich Re said that the overall losses were $4.5 billion, of which only $140 million was insured. More than 16,000 people lost their lives in the catastrophes.
