Natural disasters displaced 20 million people in 2014

Approximately 20 million people were displaced in 2014 because of extreme natural disasters, reports Vice News citing a report by the Norwegian Refugee Council.

Geophysical hazards were the cause for displacing 1.7 million people, while weather-related disasters, particularly floods, led to 17.5 million people being displaced in 2014.

Asia accounted for 87% of the displaced people in 2014 and 190,000 people were displaced in Europe.
